HUGE SUCCESS!

Support staff from across Ohio met at the University of Toledo from July 27 to July 29 for the 7th Annual Ohio Library Support Staff Institute. The theme was THE HIDDEN TREASURES OF LIBRARIES -- SUPPORT STAFF. Cast and crew totaled 74. The conference started with a Meet and Greet featuring Captain Jack Sparrow (aka Bob Soroky). Dr. Linda S. Dobb, Executive Vice President and Secretary to the Board of Trustees at Bowling Green State

University gave a very motivating opening address.

An outstanding group of instructors began classes Monday

morning and were very well attended. There were many

opportunities to network and make new friends throughout

the three-day conference. On Monday night the participants

enjoyed local fare at various restaurants in the Toledo

area. After Tuesday morning classes the crew met for

lunch and a closing speech by Dr. Dobb.

Evaluations from participants, instructors, and staff that we

have received to date have been above average with

several events earning the highest rank of 5.

We are already looking ahead to the 8th Annual Ohio

Library Support Staff Institute being held at Denison

University in Granville OH. We invite all to join the

steering committee to help plan this event. The first meeting will be held at the State Library of Ohio on September 26, 10:30 AM. For more details on the next conference or joining the

steering committee please contact one of the officers.
