Text Box: Vision

The Ohio Library Support Staff Institute sees a future where all levels of library staff are respected, trained, informed, and responsible in performance of their jobs as the roles of libraries alter to keep up with the rapid pace of change in all environments. The Institute will work on behalf of support staff in ALL libraries throughout Ohio and the surrounding region to prepare, aid, and help them in addressing their needs and issues as they continue to develop and contribute to the library community at large.

About OLSSI

The Ohio Library Support Staff Institute (OLSSI) is a dedicated group of individuals from all varieties of Ohio libraries including school, special, public, and academic. They volunteer their time and energy each year to organize an annual, residential, multi-day conference for library support staff.

OLSSI believes that library support staff are the backbone of our libraries. As such, they deserve the opportunity to learn new skills, hone long-standing ones, and to communicate, meet, and network with colleagues. We believe a short retreat, away from the workplace, is the perfect way to encourage and revitalize their enthusiasm for library work.

The Ohio Library Support Staff Institute endeavors to provide a rejuvenating and exhilarating environment, one that is both educational and entertaining, away from the everyday pressures of the job. By providing continuing education opportunities for library support staff, OLSSI aspires to make our libraries and ourselves better than they've ever been before!
