OLSSI 2007

Support staff from across the state joined us for the 2007 Ohio Library Support Staff Institute held in Portsmouth Ohio at Shawnee State University. We began the institute with a meet and greet which afforded us all the time to get to know one another before our busy Monday began.

Beginning with breakfast and a keynote address from Mr. Neal Semel on MULTICULTURALISM AND RESPECT, we eagerly started our scheduled activities. Classes and sessions included

ASSAULT PREVENTION AND SELF DEFENSE by Neal Semel

BASIC ANIMATION TECHNIQUES IN POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS by George Leggiero

CREATING ORIGINAL RECORDS IN WORLDCAT by Roman S. Panchyshyn

CREATING YOUR OWN BLOG...HANDS ON TRAINING by George Leggiero

THE ELIXIR OF LIBRARIANSHIP...MAPS by John Crissinger

THREE DIMENSIONAL PICTURE BOOK ART MOVABLE AND POP UP BOOKS by Brenda Dales

The Library Snapshot was presented at the Portsmouth Public Library by Carolyn Cottrell of the Historical Division. Those of us interested in more history explored the Portsmouth flood murals using the visitors bureau self-guided tour plaques.

A very interesting and clever presentation, THE LIBRARY DEGREE IS IT FOR ME, was given by P. Michael Bradshaw and Doug Morrison, OLSSI Founder. We were delighted to conclude the institute with the ever unique and humorous Linda Dobb speaking on THE DIVERSITY LINK. Linda is also an OLSSI Founder and a current member at large.
